Legendary Ships Guide — All 4 Boss Fights & Rewards

AC Black Flag Resynced legendary ships — endgame naval boss encounters The four Legendary Ships are the ultimate naval challenge in AC Black Flag Resynced. Each is a unique, self-contained encounter roughly equivalent to a level 75 opponent within the game's new difficulty scaling. And yes — **they respawn now**, so you can fight them as many times as you like. Let's break down every fight, the rewards, and how to prepare.

The Four Legendary Ships at a Glance

Ship Location (Map Corner) Fighting Style Key Weakness
El Impoluto Northwest Aggressive ramming, fast closing speed Mortars at range before it closes
HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign (The Twins) Northeast Two ships attack simultaneously, rage buff on partner death Kill both at roughly the same time; NEVER sail between them
La Dama Negra Southwest Heavy mortar bombardment, keeps distance Stay mobile, weave through mortar fire to close
HMS Prince Southeast Fast, heavily armored, punishing broadsides Chain shot to slow, then broadside

What's New in Resynced

"Do not face them unprepared, for they require complete mastery of all the Jackdaw's tools. Even if you defeated them in the original, do not underestimate them, for we rebuilt them to be stronger, tougher, and meaner."

That's Guilhem Marin, Lead Game Designer, and he means it. These encounters have been rebuilt from scratch for Resynced. The original game's Legendary Ships were tough; these are tougher.

The biggest change: they respawn after a while. In the original, each was a one-and-done kill. Now you can rematch them whenever the itch returns — perfect for testing new builds or just chasing that rush.

Rewards — Proof of Victory

Defeating a Legendary Ship does not let you board it (they sink). Instead, you receive:

  • 20,000 Reales per kill (carried forward from the original)
  • Unique cosmetic skins — each ship drops a skin for a different Jackdaw component:
    • Figurehead skins
    • Hull skins
    • Wheel skins
    • Sail skins

These skins are purely cosmetic but serve as your proof of victory. Fly them and every ship on the horizon knows what you've done.

Preparation — Don't Sail In Half-Built

Prerequisite Why It Matters
Fully upgraded Hull Armor These ships hit like nothing else in the game. Without max hull, one mistake sinks you.
Fully upgraded Broadside Cannons You need every point of damage. These fights are wars of attrition; weak cannons drag them out dangerously.
Fully upgraded Mortar Essential for softening targets at range, especially El Impoluto and La Dama Negra.
All 3 Officers recruited Lucy Baldwin's Perfect Brace nullifies incoming damage on a timed parry. The Padre unlocks Ram Dash for an engagement opener. Deadman Smith's double broadside volley is a massive DPS spike.
Heavy Shot unlocked Your best close-range damage dealer. Swap to it when you've closed distance.

We recommend recruiting all three officers before attempting any Legendary Ship. Their perks are permanent and transform the Jackdaw's capabilities.

Fight-by-Fight Tactics

El Impoluto (Northwest) — The Ram

El Impoluto's defining trait is relentless ramming aggression. It closes distance fast and punishes you for staying in its path.

  • Opening: Fire mortars immediately while it's still at range. Land as many mortar hits as you can before the gap closes.
  • Mid-fight: Once it's on you, use chain shot to slow it, then turn for broadsides. Do NOT sail directly toward or away from it — that's exactly the angle it wants for a ram.
  • Defensive: Lucy Baldwin's Perfect Brace is your best friend here. Time it right and you shrug off what would otherwise be a crippling ram.
  • Goal: Whittle it down with mortar pressure, then finish with broadside volleys. This fight rewards keeping distance as much as possible.

HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign — The Twins (Northeast)

This is arguably the hardest encounter. You're fighting two Legendary Ships at once.

  • Golden rule: NEVER sail between them. That puts you in both ships' broadside arcs simultaneously — a death sentence.
  • The rage mechanic: When one Twin dies, the survivor receives a massive rage buff — faster, more aggressive, harder-hitting. You MUST kill both at roughly the same time. Get both low, then finish them in quick succession.
  • Strategy: Pick one Twin, circle it, and focus it down while keeping the other on the outside of your turn. Use Deadman Smith's double broadside volley to burst one down when both are low.
  • Patience: This fight is about positioning more than firepower. Spend the opening minutes maneuvering until you've isolated one Twin on the outside of your circle.

La Dama Negra (Southwest) — The Mortar

La Dama Negra hangs back and rains mortar fire on you. She's less aggressive up close but absolutely lethal if you sit still.

  • Never stop moving: Constant course changes are the only defense against her mortar salvos. Predictable sailing gets you hit.
  • Closing the gap: Weave toward her between mortar volleys. Once you're in broadside range, chain shot to slow her, then punish with Heavy Shot.
  • Mortar counter-fire: Your own mortar can suppress her while you close. Aim ahead of her position — she'll sail into the shots.
  • Goal: Close range and stay there. Her broadsides are dangerous but far less punishing than eating mortar after mortar at distance.

HMS Prince (Southeast) — The Tank

HMS Prince is the fastest and most heavily armored of the four. Raw firepower alone won't cut it — you need to control the engagement.

  • Chain shot first, always: Slow the Prince before anything else. A fast Prince is an untouchable Prince.
  • Once slowed: Close to medium range and alternate between broadsides and Heavy Shot. Don't get greedy — the Prince's broadsides still hurt even when it's limping.
  • Ram Dash opener: If you've recruited the Padre, open the fight with a Ram Dash to stagger the Prince and create an early damage window.
  • Goal: Control its speed, then grind it down. This is the most straightforward fight mechanically but demands sustained output — bring all your offensive tools.

Can't Beat Them? Your Checklist

  1. Is your hull armor fully upgraded?
  2. Are all three officers recruited and their perks active?
  3. Are your broadside cannons and mortar at max level?
  4. Have you unlocked Heavy Shot and the secondary firing modes?
  5. Are you carrying enough repair supplies?

If the answer to any of these is no, sail back to port and invest in your Jackdaw. These fights are designed as the game's capstone naval challenge — they're not meant to be brute-forced with a mid-game ship.
