AC Black Flag Resynced Patch 1.0.4 & Known Issues
Current AC Black Flag Resynced update and known issues: patch 1.0.4 fixes, hood-toggle change, planned blowpipe option, remaining crashes, and safe troubleshooting.
Last verified July 24, 2026. Current verified version: Title Update 1.0.4. Ubisoft released the update on July 16 with save/load, stability, fast-travel, Jackdaw, harpooning, localization, and quest fixes. No newer official title-update notes were found in today's check. Back up your manual saves before troubleshooting an issue that continues after updating.
This tracker separates bugs that Ubisoft explicitly lists as fixed in 1.0.4 from reports that are still worth checking in the Black Flag Resynced Bug Reporter.
Title Update 1.0.4 — Download Sizes

Ubisoft also corrected indoor and cavern lighting, character/clothing clipping, side-character textures, several animation and audio problems, and an unintended advanced-parkour double jump.
Post-1.0.4 Changes to Watch
These are current observations or developer comments, not additional items in Ubisoft's published 1.0.4 notes.
Hood No Longer Toggles During a Leap of Faith
Players report that the option to toggle Edward's hood while performing a Leap of Faith no longer works after 1.0.4. The published patch notes do not explicitly describe this removal, so it is not yet clear whether this was intentional or a side effect of the clothing and character-clipping fixes.
There is no reliable local workaround. If the behavior matters to your setup, add a concise report with pre- and post-update footage to the official tracker rather than reinstalling or changing save data.
Hide-Blowpipe Option Is Planned, Not Released
Game director Richard Knight has confirmed the team is working on an option to hide Edward's blowpipe. As of this July 24 check, it is a planned feature rather than a setting available in 1.0.4. Do not use third-party model or DLL replacements while waiting for the official option.
Previously Reported Problems Now Listed as Fixed
PC Cutscenes Locked to 30 FPS
Patch 1.0.4 explicitly fixes the 30 FPS cutscene problem when graphics settings use the Custom preset. If it still occurs:
- Confirm the game reports version 1.0.4 or later.
- Reset Overall Preset to a built-in configuration.
- Restart the game and replay a cutscene.
- If the cap remains, add current GPU, driver, preset, and benchmark details to the official issue tracker.
Jackdaw Disappears After an Upgrade
Ubisoft says 1.0.4 fixes the case where upgrading the Jackdaw while docked could make the ship disappear. The notes do not promise that an already damaged save is automatically repaired. If the Jackdaw is still missing after the update, load the newest healthy manual save from before the docked upgrade and report the affected save state.
Fast Travel Unavailable
The patch includes fixes for various Fast Travel issues and Animus walls. If Fast Travel remains unavailable, first finish the active combat or mission state, synchronize or recapture the relevant region if needed, and restart from a manual save. Report the exact location and objective if the map remains locked on 1.0.4.
Stuck in the Desynchronization Screen
The specific lock caused by repeatedly opening and closing the menu is listed as fixed. Fully restart the game after installing the patch; if an older save still opens into the frozen screen, preserve that save and submit it with reproduction steps instead of overwriting it.
Harpooning Softlocks and Humpback Tail Slap
Ubisoft fixed the softlock caused by starting Boarding immediately after Harpooning and the Humpback Whale tail slap that could not be dodged. If either problem persists, include the animal, sea region, input method, and whether Boarding was triggered in the same sequence.
Issues Not Specifically Listed as Fixed in 1.0.4
The entries below were tracked around launch, but Ubisoft's 1.0.4 notes do not name a dedicated fix. Check the individual report before assuming its status is unchanged.
“Raise the Black Flag” Metal Does Not Increase
Some players report that collected metal does not update the objective. Do not repeatedly spend or farm resources on a save with a frozen counter. Preserve a manual save from before the objective and add platform and reproduction details to ACBFR-393.
“The One with the Gun” Branch Softlock
During Show Lucy Around the Village, leaving the intended path can trap Edward on a branch. Stay with the marked route and keep a save from before the village tour. If Edward is already trapped, reload that save.
“Devil's Eye Caverns” Diving Bell Softlock
Desynchronizing and respawning during this quest has been reported to trap the player inside the Diving Bell. Keep a manual save before entering the bell and reload it if the respawn sequence leaves Edward trapped.
PC Save File Location & Configuration Paths
Due to occasional save/load glitches, creating manual backups of your .save files before major naval upgrades is strongly recommended:
| Store / Platform | Exact Save Directory Path on Windows PC |
|---|---|
| Ubisoft Connect (Default) | %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<Your-Account-ID>\61881\ |
| Steam Version | %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Steam\userdata\<Your-Steam-ID>\2420510\remote\ |
| Windows App / Xbox PC | %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Ubisoft.ACBlackFlagResynced_*\SystemAppData\wgs\ |
| Graphics & Settings INI | %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced\ACBFResynced.ini |
How to Manually Backup Your Save:
- Press
Win + R, paste the directory path above, and press Enter. - Copy the entire
61881(or2420510) folder to a safe location (e.g. your Desktop or Google Drive). - If your save corrupts or the Jackdaw goes missing, disable Cloud Save Sync temporarily, paste your backup files back in, and relaunch the game.
PC Crashes, Stutter & Launch Problems
Stuttering or Freezing on High-End PCs
Title Update 1.0.4 includes general performance and stability improvements, but it does not claim that every stutter configuration is fixed. Use the in-game benchmark before and after changing settings:
- From the main menu, select Memories, then your game.
- Open System → Benchmark.
- Record the result before changing Video settings.
- Change one setting group at a time and rerun the benchmark.
This workflow is documented in Ubisoft Support's benchmark guide.
Crash After the Ubisoft Logo
If the game still closes after the logo on 1.0.4, check the 65 GB SSD requirement, update the GPU driver, verify game files through the store client, and temporarily remove unsupported overlays. Do not download replacement DLLs from unofficial sites. Add the resulting logs and hardware details to ACBFR-206.
DX12 Error 0x887A0006
For the DX12 device error tracked in ACBFR-525, include the exact GPU, driver version, graphics preset, and action immediately before the crash. Driver updates and file verification are safe first checks; registry edits and third-party DLL downloads are not.
Linux / SteamOS Does Not Launch
Linux and SteamOS are not listed in Ubisoft's Windows system requirements. Track ACBFR-143 rather than treating a community compatibility-layer change as an official permanent fix.
Controls & Gameplay Problems
Sprint on R2 / RT Prevents Parkour
If mapping Sprint to R2/RT (Hold) prevents parkour, restore the default sprint mapping before a movement-heavy mission and test in free roam. Add the binding and controller model to ACBFR-46 if it continues.
Mouse and Keyboard Freeze
For freezes while using mouse and keyboard, note whether a controller is connected, include custom bindings, and record the exact input that triggers the freeze in ACBFR-82.
El Tiburón Defense Will Not Break
This is usually a mechanic rather than a bug. Normal melee attacks and pistol Quick Shot will not break El Tiburón's defense. Use manual pistol aim and land the shot deliberately. Patch 1.0.4 adds clearer hints for this encounter.
How to Throw Money
Hold D-Pad Down to throw money, draw civilians toward Edward, and create a distraction around guards.
Other Reports to Monitor
- Missing Double Assassination prompt near the first powder keg in Mark the Kings at the Camp.
- Rope Dart alerting enemies beyond its expected range.
- Matanzas tower ammo crate highlighting but not becoming lootable.
- Edward becoming stuck in the bow of a ship during a Rift.
- Camera/FOV feeling too close during ship and on-foot combat — ACBFR-63.
- PS5 DualSense vibration and haptic feedback failing — ACBFR-71.
How to Report a Useful Bug
Use the official report form and include:
- Installed game version, platform, and PC hardware where relevant.
- The exact objective and location.
- Steps that reproduce the problem.
- What you expected to happen and what happened instead.
- Whether a new game or earlier manual save behaves differently.
- A screenshot or short video when possible.
Do not overwrite the only healthy save while reproducing a progression bug.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did Black Flag Resynced patch 1.0.4 fix?
It fixed multiple save/load and stability issues, Custom-preset 30 FPS cutscenes, localized dubbing, the disappearing Jackdaw, several Fast Travel and Animus-wall problems, two harpooning bugs, the desynchronization-screen lock, and multiple quest blockers.
Is the Fast Travel unavailable bug fixed?
Ubisoft lists fixes for various Fast Travel issues in 1.0.4. If Fast Travel remains locked after updating, record the location and active objective and submit a new or existing report because the patch notes do not enumerate every affected scenario.
What should I do if the Jackdaw is still missing?
Confirm 1.0.4 is installed, then load a healthy manual save from before the docked upgrade. The patch fixes the cause, but Ubisoft does not state that it repairs every save already affected.
Where can I see the latest official status?
