AC Black Flag Resynced Known Issues — Official Status & Workarounds
Updated AC Black Flag Resynced known issues tracker for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Official status, safe workarounds, quest blockers, crashes, performance problems, and gameplay fixes.
Last verified July 13, 2026. This page only labels a workaround as confirmed when Ubisoft publishes one or the required action is stated in Ubisoft's own issue description. Back up your manual saves before testing a workaround.
This tracker turns Ubisoft's launch issue list into a practical checklist. The official source of truth remains the Black Flag Resynced Bug Reporter and Ubisoft's Known Issues announcement.
Fixes Ubisoft Says Are Incoming
| Issue | Platform | Status | Safe action now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cutscenes lock to 30 FPS with some Ultra High settings | PC | In progress | Reset Overall Preset to a built-in preset. Do not manually set Ray Tracing, BVH, or Terrain Quality to Ultra High together. |
| Localized dialogue does not align with cutscenes | All localized versions | Planned | No official workaround yet. Track the issue before changing language files or reinstalling. |
PC Cutscenes Locked to 30 FPS
Ubisoft links this problem to manually combining Ray Tracing, BVH, or Terrain Quality at Ultra High. The published temporary workaround is:
- Open the graphics settings.
- Reset Overall Preset to any pre-configured preset.
- Avoid manually returning all three affected options to Ultra High.
- Replay a cutscene to verify the cap is gone.
The issue is marked In Progress in the official report ACBFR-21.
Progression & Quest Blockers
Jackdaw Disappears After an Upgrade
Ubisoft lists a case where upgrading the Jackdaw while it is docked can make the ship disappear and leave the quest running without it.
Safest prevention: make a manual save before ship upgrades and avoid upgrading while the Jackdaw is in a quest-specific dock state. If it has already vanished, reload the pre-upgrade save instead of pushing the quest forward without the ship. Ubisoft has not published a recovery method for a save already affected.
Cannot Fast Travel Out of Principe
Fast travel may be unavailable after reaching Principe. Do not rely on fast travel as the only exit plan and keep a manual save from before entering the location. There is no official recovery workaround in the launch announcement yet.
Stuck in the Desynchronization Screen
Opening and closing the save menu quickly can leave the game stuck on the desynchronization screen. Avoid rapid save-menu inputs. If it occurs, fully restart the game and load the newest healthy manual save.
“The One with the Gun” Branch Softlock
During Show Lucy Around the Village, leaving the intended path can trap Edward on a branch. Stay with the marked route and keep a save from before the village tour. If Edward is already trapped, reload that save.
“Devil's Eye Caverns” Diving Bell Softlock
Desynchronizing and respawning during this quest can trap the player inside the Diving Bell. Keep a manual save before entering the bell and reload it if a desynchronization happens during the sequence.
“Raise the Black Flag” Metal Does Not Increase
Some players cannot progress because collected metal does not update the objective. Ubisoft currently marks ACBFR-393 Open. Do not repeatedly spend or farm resources on the affected save while the counter is frozen; preserve a pre-objective save and contribute your platform details to the official report.
PC Crashes, Stutter & Launch Problems
Stuttering or Freezing on High-End PCs
Ubisoft has an In Progress report for low performance, stutter, and freezes on high-end hardware: ACBFR-112. There is no universal official fix yet.
Use the in-game benchmark before and after changing settings:
- From the main menu, select Memories, then your game.
- Open System → Benchmark.
- Record the result before changing Video settings.
- Change one setting group at a time and rerun the benchmark.
This workflow is documented in Ubisoft Support's benchmark guide.
Crash After the Ubisoft Logo
The launch crash is tracked as ACBFR-206 and currently needs more information. Check the 65 GB SSD requirement, update the GPU driver, verify game files through your store client, and remove unsupported overlays before filing a report. Do not download replacement DLLs from unofficial sites.
DX12 Error 0x887A0006
This crash is tracked as ACBFR-525. Ubisoft currently needs more information, so include the exact GPU, driver version, graphics preset, and reproduction steps when contributing.
Linux / SteamOS Does Not Launch
Linux and SteamOS launch failure is marked In Progress in ACBFR-143. These platforms are not listed in Ubisoft's Windows system requirements, so wait for the official issue update rather than assuming a community compatibility-layer change is permanent.
Controls & Gameplay Problems
Sprint on R2 / RT Prevents Parkour
Mapping Sprint to R2/RT (Hold) may block parkour actions. The issue is Open in ACBFR-46. Restore the default sprint mapping before entering a parkour-heavy mission and verify movement in free roam.
Mouse and Keyboard Freeze
Freezes while using mouse and keyboard are tracked in ACBFR-82. Ubisoft needs more information. Note whether a controller is connected, include your input bindings, and report the exact action that triggers the freeze.
El Tiburón Defense Will Not Break
This one may look like a bug, but Ubisoft clarifies the intended mechanic: normal melee attacks and pistol Quick Shot will not break El Tiburón's defense. Use manual pistol aim and land the shot deliberately.
How to Throw Money
The tutorial can fail to explain this input. Hold D-Pad Down to throw money, draw civilians toward Edward, and create a distraction around guards.
Other Officially Tracked Issues
- Missing Double Assassination prompt near the first powder keg in Mark the Kings at the Camp.
- Fatal Humpback Whale tail slap may be impossible to dodge during Harpooning.
- Rope Dart and Smoke Bomb may not return to aiming after Edward is hit.
- Rope Dart can alert enemies beyond its expected range.
- Matanzas tower ammo crate highlights but cannot be looted.
- Edward can become stuck in the bow of a ship in a Rift.
- Camera/FOV feels too close during ship and on-foot combat — ACBFR-63 is In Progress.
- PS5 DualSense vibration and haptic feedback may fail — ACBFR-71 is Open.
How to Report a Bug That Helps Ubisoft
Use the official report form and include:
- Platform, game version, and PC hardware where relevant.
- The exact objective and location.
- Steps that reproduce the problem.
- What you expected to happen and what happened instead.
- Whether reloading an earlier save works.
- A screenshot or short video when possible.
Do not overwrite the only healthy save while reproducing a progression bug.
