AC Black Flag Resynced Mission List — 12 Sequences, 51 Quests

How many sequences are in AC Black Flag Resynced? There are 43 core missions across 12 sequences, plus 8 A World Without Gold quests.

⚠️ LAUNCH BUG WARNING: an unfinished Templar Hunt can conflict with a main mission in the same region and force a rollback to an earlier save. Until Ubisoft confirms a fix, make a manual save and finish each Templar Hunt chain before resuming the regional story. The issue was first documented by Stephen Totilo at Game File; see our known-issues tracker before relying on any workaround.

Black Flag Resynced has 43 core story memories across 12 sequences. The new A World Without Gold chapter adds another eight quests after Sequence 11, while Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, and officer stories remain separate questlines.

Quick answer: there are 12 main story sequences and 43 core missions. Counting the eight missions in the separate A World Without Gold chapter gives 51 listed story quests, but that chapter is not Sequence 13.

Mission Design Changes

Tailing & Eavesdropping Missions

No longer cause desynchronization on failure. Instead:

  • If caught, objectives dynamically shift
  • May need to fight a captain for a note
  • Or chase down the target and eliminate them
  • Or investigate a different location

This gives multiple paths rather than forced restart.

Assassination Missions — Expanded

Many assassination targets now have:

  • Optional objectives for extra rewards
  • Hidden rooms with backstory (e.g., one mid-game target has a room found by eavesdropping on soldiers)
  • More approach paths using crouch and parkour

Parkour Paths Updated

All missions rebuilt from scratch to match modern parkour mechanics. Directors played the original, noted confusing sections, and reworked layouts. Cities follow the same general layout but details are refreshed.

Side Activities

Templar Hunts

Reworked for modern parkour. Five keys still unlock the gate in the Hideout for the Templar Armor. Updated narratives to fit the remade experience.

Assassin Contracts

Pick up at pigeon coops in major settlements. Remixed for better map distribution, with expanded character dialogue and motivations. Rewards include new items not in the original.

Naval Contracts

Available from Milo van der Graaff at the Hideout (now a physical character you meet, not just letters) and his agents across the Caribbean. Mix of naval combat and assassination missions.

Animus Rifts

Four optional rifts tied to key characters (Edward, Blackbeard, James Kidd). Collect them all for a special conclusion.

Fort Assaults

Each region has one Fort. New dynamic morale system — the commander fights you directly instead of surrendering. Capturing a fort unlocks:

  • Points of interest in that region
  • New Kenway's Fleet missions

Hideout Progression

Great Inagua can now be upgraded. Ten buildings with up to 3 levels each, visibly changing as you invest:

Building Benefit
General Store (3 levels) Rare and legendary weapons, outfits
Tavern 3 minigames; tip jar increases Royal Convoy spawns
Harbormaster (3 levels) More Jackdaw upgrade tiers
Brothel Free dancers; combat and sailing buffs
Campfire Free drunk pirates; +2 fleet slots
Fisherman's Wharf (new) Passive income; double skinning effectiveness
Treasure Dealer (new) Exclusive items; fleet trading profit boost
Mansion / Tower / Guesthouse Max passive income; fleet slots

New character Bernard Woodhouse (the butler) provides narrative for collection quests. Collect paintings of Edward's friends and enemies across the world.

Difficulty Settings

Four independent sliders you can change anytime:

  • Combat: Enemy aggression, attack frequency, Edward's damage
  • Stealth: Detection distance, search duration, alert states
  • Naval Combat: Jackdaw damage dealt/taken, bracing, enemy cooldowns
  • Activities: Diving creature damage/spawn rate, harpoon mechanics

Each slider: Forgiving → Intended → Hard
