Trophy Roadmap

Step 1: Story + Random Trophies (15-20 hours)

Play through the main story on any difficulty. Work on these luck-based trophies from the start:

  • Dilettante (Silver): 19 random Art Pieces from Kenway's Fleet Brig Piracy missions. Capture 5 Brigs, constantly send them on missions. Make a manual save before accepting fleet reports — reload if no Art Piece mission appears.
  • Last to Leave (Silver): Find a Burning Ship event with a chair. Extremely rare (~5% chance). Farm by fast-traveling to The Black Trench (184, 425) from Great Inagua, reloading if no ship spawns.
  • The Hangman (Bronze): Kill 10 enemies with rope dart hangings from trees/beams. Work on this throughout the story.
  • Glutton for Nourishment (Bronze): Consume 20 food items from the environment (not healing charges).

Step 2: Collectibles (20-30 hours)

Most-Searched Trophy Solutions

Unsinkable

Requirement: survive a rogue wave that hits the side of the Jackdaw.

  1. Repair the Jackdaw before entering a storm or open-sea battle.
  2. When the rogue-wave warning appears, rotate so the wave reaches the ship's broadside rather than the bow.
  3. Brace for impact and remain afloat after the hit.

The storm escape at the end of Sequence 2, Memory 6: The Treasure Fleet is the guaranteed opportunity on a new save. In free roam, rogue waves are random and current player reports describe long waits, so take the side hit whenever one appears instead of trying to force a specific coordinate. If repeated valid side hits do not unlock the trophy, preserve the save and report the platform and encounter to Ubisoft's bug tracker.

Overdesign IV

Requirement: kick a berserk enemy caught in smoke off a ship.

Use a boarded ship with surviving enemies near a railing:

  1. Hit an enemy near the rail with a Berserk Dart.
  2. Drop a Smoke Bomb so that same enemy is inside the cloud.
  3. Move between the target and the ship's rail.
  4. Use the contextual kick or takedown to send the enemy overboard.

Use the most reliable order: Berserk Dart first, smoke second, overboard kick last. If it does not unlock, reset the encounter and confirm the darted target is still inside the smoke when the final kick begins. The first Berserk Dart upgrade needs 2 Deer Hide.

Blow the Man Down

Requirement: shoot down all three hanging bodies in Long Bay, which opens during or after Sequence 10, Memory 3: The Observatory.

Fast travel to the Long Bay viewpoint around (505, 232). Shoot the first body's rope directly below the viewpoint, then follow the sandy path and keep looking upward for the other two bodies a short distance apart. The trophy unlocks after the third body drops; it is unrelated to the sea shanty with the same name.

Use the dedicated Blow the Man Down route for the three-body checklist, approximate coordinates, and troubleshooting.

Dilettante

This requires every Art Collection and Equipment slot in the Great Inagua manor, not just the 41 Art Pieces:

Collection Required
Art Pieces 41
Paintings 9
Ship Models 20
Character Portraits 11
Swords 18
Pistols 12

Of the 41 Art Pieces, 19 are random Brig Piracy Fleet rewards. Start those missions early, send up to five Brigs at once, and make a manual save before accepting completed Fleet reports so you can reload when the next mission set has no Art Piece reward.

Tips

  • Play on Forgiving difficulty — trophies aren't gated
  • Use Kenway's Fleet constantly — Brigs for Art Pieces, Schooners for money
  • Save before accepting fleet reports and reload to re-roll missions
  • Prioritize recruiting Officers first — they give passive ship abilities
  • Free roam opens after Sequence 4, but some areas are story-gated
  • No current Mission Replay means use manual saves before rare or setup-heavy encounters
  • Ubisoft's game director has confirmed New Game+ is in development, but no release date has been announced
