How Long to Beat AC Black Flag Resynced โ Main Story, 100% Completion
Before you clear your calendar for July 9, you probably want to know exactly what you're signing up for. How many hours are we talking? Is this a weekend sprint or a month-long voyage? We've broken down every tier of playtime โ from mainlining the story to scouring every island โ so you know what to expect.
Time to Beat โ By Playstyle
| Playstyle | Estimated Hours | What's Included |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story Only | 25โ30 hours | Core narrative, all 13 sequences |
| Main + Side Content | 40โ50 hours | Story, officer quests, naval contracts, fort assaults, major side activities |
| 100% Completionist | 60โ70 hours | Every mission, collectible, upgrade, shanty, legendary ship, and trophy |
The main story alone runs 25 to 30 hours โ a bit longer than the original's 23.5-hour average (per HowLongToBeat), thanks to roughly six hours of new narrative content woven into the campaign.
Game director Richard Knight put it this way:
"Resynced adds around 6 hours of content via new quests, officer quests, and similar activities. We have also added a profound layer of detail to the world, so we hope players spend far more than that exploring."
That last part rings true. The Caribbean in Resynced is denser than ever โ reactive wildlife, dynamic weather, crew interactions, and hideout customization all pull you off the critical path. We've already lost entire evenings just harpooning sharks and upgrading the Jackdaw.
How Resynced Compares to the Original
If you played the 2013 original, here's how the hours stack up:
| Category | Original (2013) | Resynced (2026) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Story | ~23.5 hours | 25โ30 hours | +2โ6 hours |
| Main + Extras | ~39 hours | 40โ50 hours | +1โ11 hours |
| Completionist | ~62 hours | 60โ70 hours | Similar |
| Trophies / Achievements | 51 | 49 | โ2 |
The main story grows by about two to six hours. The completionist window is comparable, but the texture of those hours has changed โ less time spent on frustrating tailing-mission restarts, more time spent on new officer questlines and the expanded hideout system.
What's New That Adds Hours
The extra playtime isn't filler. Here's where the new content lives:
- Officer quests โ three fully-voiced recruitment storylines for new crew officers, each with multiple missions. Expect 2โ3 hours combined.
- "A World Without Gold" โ an eight-mission side arc exploring Edward's reckoning with the Assassin-Templar conflict beyond personal profit. Roughly 3โ4 hours.
- Stede Bonnet epilogue โ a post-credits sequence wrapping up Bonnet's story. About 1 hour.
- Blackbeard's treasure quest โ a multi-island treasure hunt with naval puzzles and a legendary reward. Around 1โ2 hours.
- Hideout upgrades โ Great Inagua now has a full upgrade tree with visual changes tied to progression. Collecting resources and customizing adds several hours for completionists.
All of this is integrated into the campaign flow, not siloed off as post-game DLC.
How It Stacks Up Against Recent AC Games
For context, Assassin's Creed Valhalla clocked in at roughly 60 hours for the main story and well over 140 for completionists. Mirage scaled back to about 15โ20 hours for the main story. Resynced sits comfortably between them โ longer than Mirage, but far more focused than Valhalla. If you found Odyssey and Valhalla bloated, Resynced's tighter scope should feel refreshing. If you miss the sprawl, the 70-hour completionist target still gives you plenty of Caribbean to explore.
